For this weeks project, I chose the "Create a physical labyrinth or maze that is challenging for a member of your family to solve" option from the Google Doc.
I started by cutting one side of a cardboard box off. Next, I found some one inch square-paper and cut it to match the shape of the piece of cardboard. I did this so I could follow the lines of the line paper while drawing the maze. I drew a maze onto the paper, but it wasn't very hard to solve because the correct path followed the edge of the maze, making it easy to notice:
So I redrew the maze, this time planning out the rough path to finish first, and then filling out the rest after to disguise it:
I also drew another maze for fun:
Next, I taped the paper to the cardboard, and perforated the cardboard through the paper to indicate where to put the walls:
Finally, I cut a bunch of 2cm wide strips of cardboard, and glued them to the main panel:
It's pretty fun to play around with, but my mom (who's really good at mazes) solved it pretty fast. Not so much for the paper maze I drew, however. (I haven't even solved it)
Tune in next week for another episode of Weekly Projects.
